2027 Research Grant Funding

Applicants will automatically be sent the research grant application form and information when the funding round opens on Tuesday 1st September 2026.
In September each year we invite researchers in the neuromuscular field and postgraduate students, to apply for research funding. We have limited funding available and have set a range of guidelines to assist applicants and trustees with the application and grant making process.

Timeline
Registrations Open: Tuesday 1st September 2026
Applications Close: Friday 23rd October 2026 at 5.00pm
Assessment Panel Meet: Mid-December 2026
Applicants Notified: Early January 2027
The value of the Project Grant should be enough to cover the expenses of the project for up to two years. As a guide, grants awarded in previous funding rounds were approximately $20,000 (exclusive of GST).
The NRFT are supportive of research at all career stages and will dedicate the first $20,000 of available funds to post-graduate students.

Applications must meet all eligibility requirements and comply with the Research Grant Guidelines to be accepted for consideration. Applications that are incomplete, submitted after the closing date, or do not meet the stated guidelines may be deemed ineligible and will not progress to the assessment stage.
