Be Connected
We have over 600 members wanting to connect to share information and provide support to others with similar lived experience. If you would like to connect through MDANZ please fill out this form, and this will allow us to record your contact details and confirm that you are happy to share these with other members.
If you have any queries about the support network and how your information will be shared please contact us on (09) 815 0247 or (0800) 800 337 or email.
If you are interested in starting your own group, the local branch or the National Office will provide you with support. Just get in touch and we will be happy to help.
What is a support group?
Support groups are informal get togethers, often at a community location like a cafe.
Some of the common characteristics of MDANZ member led support groups include:
- They are made up of peers
- A lead person usually volunteers to be the group coordinator
- They tend to be fairly small in size, to better allow everyone a chance to talk
- Attendance is voluntary
- You pay for your own food or drink if you visit a cafe
Finding a support group
There are many different types of support groups, including face to face, or online groups. This section of the website lists the groups currently in place for people living with or affected by a neuromuscular condition. These groups are not necessarily affiliated with the MDANZ or it’s branches.

To find out more about groups that meet together, click here.
A few members of our community have also put themselves forward as individuals, willing to speak with and support others personally. You can find their details by clicking here.
If your condition is not listed you can join another group, or we can help you to start your own.
(Also, if you know of a group you would like added to this page please contact us by email here.)
