International Day for Person with disabilities

On the 3rd December we celebrated International Day for Persons with disabilities by holding a games day in Hamilton for our members. Thank you to all that attended.

Hamilton Gardens provided the perfect backdrop for our celebration. The annual observance of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly resolution 47/3 in 1992. It aims to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in all spheres of society and development, and to increase awareness of disability issues in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life.

This years theme was “Transformation towards sustainable and resilient society for all.”

In hosting an event for our younger members we wanted to celebrate the next generation that will continue to build on our success. There were shrieks of laughter as the joy of an automatic card shuffler was discovered. The MDANZ balloons also got a workout as they were chased by wheels and feet across the room. It also gave parents the opportunity to spend time with our CE Ronelle Baker who was in attendance with her family.
