The Ministry of Social Development (MSD) has recently updated the Guide for Carers. The booklet outlines what support and services are available for someone who cares for a family or whānau member or someone close.
If you’re caring for someone who is disabled, has a health condition, an injury or a physical or mental illness and want to know more about the kinds of support available, the Guide is a good starting point.
It covers topics such as financial help, assessing needs, getting help at home, and taking a break from caring.
The Guide is available online, or you can contact MSD for a hard copy at carers.strategy@msd.govt.nz.
