Dr Marshall Hogarth grew up in Auckland but moved to Dunedin where he completed his undergraduate and Master’s degrees before moving to Sydney to complete his PhD on genetic modifiers of Duchenne muscular dystrophy under the guidance of Kathy North at the Institute for Neuroscience & Muscle Research.
Dr Hogarth is currently a post-doctoral scientist at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington DC. To date his research has encompassed a number of different muscular dystrophies (including Duchenne, limb girdle muscular dystrophies and myositis) and a wide range of topics, from understanding disease mechanisms right through to pre-clinical testing of possible therapies.
