He aha te mea nui o te ao? He tangata, he tangata, he tangata!
What is the most important thing in the world? It is the people, it is the people, it is the people

Our organisation is member based and member led, so this whakataukii or Maori proverb sums up a foundational principle for MDANZ. Our primary focus is on member driven services and community engagement, with strong governance provided from skilled and enthusiastic leaders elected from our membership.

The different types of membership are outlined in the ‘constitution’ or rules of the organisation. They are “General Member”, Young/Rangatahi Member (16-25years), Child/Tamariki Member (0-16years), Life Member, and Friend of the Association.

It is free to join any branch of MDANZ, however each branch relies on an annual donation from each member to continue its work in the community, and will communicate expectations around this donation once a year.

By joining a branch, members become eligible for a range of member benefits and services offered by MDANZ. The majority of our benefits and services are targeted toward individuals and family members with lived experience of a neuromuscular condition.
