Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy (LGMD) is a group of inherited disorders that affect the voluntary muscles of the hip and shoulder areas - the pelvic and shoulder girldes, also known as the limb girdles. These muscles weaken and waste away (atrophy), and as a progressive disorder, it may involve other muscles over a period of time. For more information about Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy click here.

There are a number of different Facebook groups (some are closed groups) for these conditions, either generic or sub type specific, and they are a good forum to learn from others’ experiences or discuss issues.
