MDA Annual Fundraising Appeal

We relaunched our annual appeal in September with a new approach that promotes a Week of Freedom from September 1 to 5. Our awareness week was traditionally earlier in the year, but we have changed this to be in line with global awareness days for specific conditions on the international calendar (e.g. Duchenne Awareness Day on 7th September).
Our aim was to start a conversation amongst our members, and all New Zealanders, asking, "What does Freedom mean to you?"

If you missed out on this year, get involved next year. Here are some ideas to get you started:

  • Tell us what Freedom means to you, print off a poster, write down your answer and share your picture with us on Facebook and/or Instagram. Click here for the poster or if your kids enjoy colouring in click here.
  • Take up the challenge, give something up for the week of freedom such as using elevators or some sort of electronic device. Every time you cheat, you have to find someone to donate. See this video for details.
  • Or help raise much needed funds through selling some of our merchandise, contact your local branch for details.
